Me and other posters will name various cities in the US and Canada and the pro-urbansit crowd will share what they think about the city on how urban they are and how easy it can be to live a car-free lifestyle.
I'm told by someone who lived there without a car, she found the transit system poor.
I suspect many will get annoyed if their city is described as not very urban* / not friendly to non-car usage. Of course, this will be determined by many personal factors:
1) Where you work
2) If you have kids
3) Neighborhoods
All things being equal, a city with more jobs concentrated in the core will be easier not to use a car. Where shopping is located can matter a big deal.
*As for myself, my image of "suburbia" is mainly based off of Long Island, which varies in development style. If outside of downtown, the city is similarly built up to many parts of Long Island, it wouldn't feel "urban" to me.
