I am in market to buy a new home. My budget is 500k. I am hoping to get some ideas around best locations to consider. I have following criteria -
- Must be single family detached home. I don't enjoy living in condo or townhouse.
- Close to skytrain. A bus connection to skytrain station is fine.
- commute to downtown Vancouver should be less than about an 1:15 hours max. ( I work in Downtown)
- Safe area for family
- Price max to be 500k
- Age of home should be less than 20 years.
My only option seems to be Maple Ridge. Is it a good area to buy home there?
Second option I am entertaining is buying in Surrey (Panorama Ridge or Cloverdale area). Then I will have to drive to Richmond skytrain and ride Canada line. This means I have to drive (car, gas, insurance) and pay for parking. Commute time will be depending on traffic.
Third option is to buy in Langley and drive to Surrey skytrain.
Sorry but you're way out of luck. My first home was in the Westwood Plateau neighbourhood of Coquitlam and the commute to Downtown was a complete pain in the ass...
You should consider renting. I know it's not what you want to hear but its the reality.
