would anyone be able to tell me about the hillcrest park apartments in thousand oaks? I am trying to rent an apartment there and I want to know how safe it is and what is the crime rate there like and would like to know if its a good idea or not?
Please let me know. i have had few people tell me about it and i really value their advice. But if a few more people could tell me about it I could solidify my decision.

Nothing wrong with that neighborhood. It's the Newbury Park section of Thousand Oaks. Amgen is right down the street. You will probably hear a little freeway noise since it is about 1000 feet from the freeway. No big deal.

Default Hillcrest Park, DON'T!

Within a year that I lived here, I have learned of and been a witness to robberies, (one of which my neighbor was sleeping in her bed while it happened), car thefts and vandalisms, an excessive amount of dog poop all around the complex, parties on the balconies at night, and of course a murder and a couple of attempted murders. The staff is friendly until you sign that lease, then the word ******* come to mind and that's not a word I regularly use. If you want something fixed, good luck, I've yet to have the repairs done on my unit that I listed when I first moved in. The biggest joke of all, it is suppose to be pet friendly. It is as long as you keep them indoors. The dog area is a joke, you wouldn't subject any animal to it, esp. one you care for. As soon as my lease is up, we're out and that seems to be the general conscience of my neighbors.

I have to agree that those apts. are not the most ideal in the area. That complex and the condos next door are were most of the crime in this area occurs. There is gang activity, and I have heard of many drug arrests, too. The apts themselves look nice, but I would not feel safe living there. There are many other options in Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park.

Thats just my $0.02, of course.

Ok all of these posts were a little while ago but i wouldnt advise moving into the hillcrest apartments because thats a "bad" area of thousand oaks. My friends live by there and they see gang beatings every once in awhile, but theres drugs and stuff like that too. Im pretty certain theres at least one gang there too, and its a good possibility its MS-13. (we have alot of ms-13 members in thousand oaks because alot of the illegal immigrants/ legal immigrants in the city are from muna, yucatan, and el salvador.) Ok and houston street? do you mean houston drive? i think thats over by westlake village. But wow i cant believe you guys are looking to by in like 2 of the 3 or 4 gang places of t.o. lol. The Houston Hoods used to reside over this way if my memory serves me. although there largley gone (i think), i dunno if i would tempt fate. anyways yeah.
