Our daughter is 13 y/o and we're looking for a good summer camp, with 1 or 2 week sessions, and that's reasonably priced. Ideally it would be something that would stimulate her intellectually as well as physically, but I've been told the most important thing is to look for one that's ACA-accredited (mainly for safety).

We live in Camarillo, but we'll consider anything within, say, 2-3 hours driving distance. Any suggestions?

If she is into technology/visual arts iD Tech Camps offers summer programs at UCSB, UCLA, UC Irvine, and other universities throughout the state. Best of luck!

Thank you. She's certainly into computers. I took a look at CLU's website and their program looks a lot more affordable than some of the summer GATE programs I originally had in mind (which can cost $2-3K/week) offered at places like UCLA, Berkeley, etc.

For the time being I've signed her up at Camp Whittier, north of Santa Barbara, for a week. It's $500 and sounds like a lotta fun. I also discovered a day camp here in Camarillo which focuses on arts and crafts (painting, ceramics, photography, etc.) that's pretty reasonable. It's run by an artists' guild out of the old Los Primeros school building, on Ventura Blvd. in Old Town Camarillo.
