My wife and I are wanting to move to the Burlington area this summer from Tampa, FL. I am going to attend UVM and she is starting a business when we get there. There are places to rent in Burlington but they are very pricey. Is there a nice town outside of Burlington that is affordable. When we got up there we will probably end up getting part time jobs until the business picks up. I was looking at Montpelier, exxex junction, winooski, charlotte, shelburne, milton, and colchester.

How long of a commute do you want?
St. Albans (1/2 hour north) or Vergennes (1/2 hour south) are more affordable than greater Burlington. Also give Milton a look. Shelburne & Charlotte will be your most expensive besides Burlington.
What type of business will your wife be starting?

1/2 hour is perfect. Her and her business partner are looking to open a medical marijuana shop.

I hope you check out the state regulation for opening up a dispensary.

BTW, Vergennes is a nice town.

Yup, do your research. Vermont only allows for 4 Dispensaries in the state and all 4 of those permits are filled.

Things will change if Recreational becomes legal but for now...

Yeah we know. We are coming up there and getting a building before recreational goes state wide.

She has spent several months researching this and looking at buildings.

Gotcha Good luck in your endevour, it will be interesting to see how the State and towns regulate sales if Recreational ever passes. I'm sure there are lessons to be learned from Colorado and Washington.
