OMG I had Blur that was an awesome racing game It amazes why no one wants to combine realistic racing cars with mario kart style powers and such I swear it is beyond me.
This game was the perfect mesh of mario cart with real cars.
Even though it Bully was on PS2, I liked Bully: Scholarship Edition for XBox 360. I don't know if it counts as "underrated", but they haven't made a sequel to it yet...
I LOVE Mafia 2. The game is just fun, DLC included. In fact, I may like the "Jimmy" DLC even better than the main story.
Doesn't touch the first Mafia... if you haven't played that it's a must play, despite being outdated. I felt after the character gets out of jail, it started feeling rushed. Wouldn't fault the makers for that, that would have been the distribution company pushing them.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES OF ALLLLLLL TIIIIIIIME !!! BTW Star of the movie EVIL DEAD Bruce Campbell voices the game and his voiceovers are soooo hilarious .
Alright we all know about the triple A coverage but what about games that flew under the radar or were just underrated and people took them for granted. These can be console, PC or indie games that don't get a lot of coverage but you play them to death.
I am still playing this and I have lost track of how many hours I have clocked into this game. The fact is I put more hours in this than Skyrim while not a bad game Dogma just wins out in the end for me.
What under hidden gems did you guys and gals find and love.
My answer is also the same; Dragon's Dogma. Specifically Dark Arisen. I put hundred of hours into it. I could only imagine how amazing a new iteration could be on a PS4. One can dream.
I'd also choose Alan Wake. This game has some just awesome set pieces s, drips with atmosphere, and has a great narrative. It clearly takes inspiration from Twin Peaks and Twilight Zone, even X files. Plus it has a great sense of humor tossed in, with good character development as well. Played in the dark with headphones, the game will suck you in.
I'm actually playing through Alan Wake. What initially drove me to the game was that it was from the same developers from Max Payne and Max Payne 2.
I like The Club where you basically select eight characters and to kill everyone through a set of level as quickly as possible. The whole purpose is to increase your score. I also like Viking: Battle of Asgard for its epic battles and Shadowrun for its unique gameplay. Shadowrun was hurt by a lack of content. The gameplay had a lot of depth and a learning curve.
I have been a die hard follower of the Battlefield franchise since its inception, and just "finally" started branching out away from that damn game....
So these may or may not consist of under the radar but they were new and exciting for me.
Tropico 4 (xbox360) was huge for me. A ton better than the last SimCity I played (which was SimCity 2000)
Mafia 2 (which was mentioned above) was a great transition game away from Battlefield.
