Which Harvest Moon game should I play first on my 3DS? (Nintendo, Lost)

I want to start playing the Harvest Moon games, but can't decide which game I should play first? Which of the recent ones, or the ones that are available to download in the eShop, should I play first that's available for the 3DS?

Your first harvest moon? On 3ds? Pretty bad selection honestly. If you had other consols, I would suggest more. But.... I suggest you get Story of Seasons. It is in fact, a harvest moon, but due to a long backstory, the company can't use the name anymore. As your first harvest moon experience, i do NOT recommend The Lost Valley. I have not played A New Beginning, but I think that was the last true Harvest Moon title wise, so I can't say yay or nay.

I don't even know what's currently available on the Nintendo shop, so if other titles are available, the further back, date wise, they are, you'll get a good experience.

If you have a PC capable of handling it, I would actually recommend Stardew Valley. It reminds me so much of the original Harvest Moon, while adding more things to do to make sure you don't get bored.

I personally think Harvest Moon 64 was the best entry in the series, I still go back and play that one. It's also the first game I remember playing that would go on for eternity after the ending. I also still really like the first Harvest Moon game. I really didn't care for most after 64.
