it's weird how the atmosphere makes the earth appear as if it were round, like a ball or back of a turtle
These videos were taken with a fish eye lens, which exaggerates roundness of everything including the horizon. The true curvature of the earth is indistinguishable until about 9-10k feet elevation. If photographed with a regular lens it would look more realistic.
A gopro does tend ot put a curve on the video but there are different settings in the camera to reduce this.
In the first video the balloon and camera went over 90,000 feet so they could see the curvature of the earth.
It doesn't matter how many miles it fell from. It hit the ground at the same speed it would have if it fell from 2,000 feet. It only takes about 1,000 feet for something to reach terminal velocity.
