Default hope this helps

there are 42 High schools in the Northern Virginia area. Every HS in Fairfax county, Arlington County made the list of the best HS in the nation. they represent the top 1% of all schools. There is no need for school choice in this area. That being said, you can go to any school within the county you can get to if you have a valid reason.

if there are other reasons, like religious obligations and the such, there are enough private schools with scholarship programs to check out.

She was asking about housing choice vouchers, not school vouchers. I believe that is sometimes called section 8. If I am wrong, forgive me. But anyway, I have read some stories in the Washington Post about how section 8 housing is very hard to come by in this area. :\ NoVA suffers from an extreme lack of affortable housing. Up here, $50k/year will qualify you for a reduced rate apartment.

If i'm not mistaken, you can use those vouchers to find a place anywhere you want to live. I don't believe that you are restricted to certain areas. So no one would even know (not that it's any of their business or that it should matter).

Also, if it's the program I'm thinking of then many local home investors like it b/c they know that they are going to be paid their rent each month. For them it is less risky than finding someone through a newspaper ad. So I think chances are good that you'll find a place that is nice and fits you well.

Good luck and welcome to VA!

Dave
