Hi all,

I'm looking for an apartment complex in the north/northeastern DC suburbs. My wants are walking distance to a metro stop (2 miles max), younger residents (not a quiet family place), and good parking. I live in Baltimore currently but the parking is awful and I would like to have some grass and a grill outside my front door. I've been looking in Greenbelt because of the metro stop, Parke Crescent and Lakeside North specifically. I've been skimming hotpads and craigslist but am curious about the unadvertised places. Anyone have any leads? Want a single/studio for $1000 or less. Any help appreciated!

I had a one bedroom in Alexandria for about 1000, it was pretty nice too. You might be able to swing a studio for 9ish.

Also, I saw your screenname, nice. What options do you have? My 2012 is on order right now.

I work closer to Baltimore so Alexandria is a little out of the way. My 5.0 is of the old pushrod variety, a '91. Not one of the newer beasts!

Looks like you are looking for the same place I am. I am looking at Columbia right now, but I think that might be a bit familyish. I don't mind that so much, though a SAFE version of a more city vibe would be nice too. A buddy of mine lived in San Franciso and his place was badass. It was small and he had two roommates (well its expensive out there, plus at least his two roommates were both hot girls) but anyways, he could walk to the end of the block and be on an awesome shopping and bar street. I guess it would be like having an Apt in Georgetown. (Which would be the ****, if it wasn't so far away from work.)

$1000 or less in the DMV is going to be hard to find in a safe area. Wheaton has places reasonable and walking distance to METRO, so does Hyattsville, so does College Park. But they will be more than $1,000

Someone else mentioned Beall's Grant in Rockville, which has 1-BR and studios for under $1,000. It's close to metro, but it doesn't look like there are patios for a grill. There is a outdoor paking lot. Here's the web site:
