I live in Gaithersburg, MD, near Great Seneca Hwy and Route 28. I need to be at work by 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Lockwood/New Hampshire Ave in the White Oak area. What are some ways to get there, avoiding 270 and 495? Any suggestions would be great!! Im trying to avoid stop and go traffic, but dont mind a longer, moving commute.

Shady Grove east to Muncater Mill Rd turn right
Stay on Muncaster Mill to the end left on 28
Right on southbound Georgia ave to Randolph Road
Turn left on Randolph to a right on New Hampshire

I'd take Darnestown rd to 28 (Montgomery Ave.) through Rockville instead of Shady Grove. Muncaster Mill rd. is jam packed full of cars every morning. Takes a long time to get from Shady Grove to 28. 28 through Rockville has traffic but it doesn't take long. Once you get going on Norbeck rd (28) it's not too bad the rest of the way.

So far, I've had a good experience going East on 28/Randolph Road and back the same way. It was later in the morning, but no bottlenecks. Earlier am might be a different story. If it is going to be
your regular daily commute I recommend mapquesting it and asking for different options. That way, if you start out going one way and the traffic is blocked, you will be able to move to plan B or C asap.
I do this when going cross county if I see that 495 is standing still, which is most of the time, alas.
495 is over capacity, which is why MO CO built ICC and hopes to profit from it. Unfortunately, they
didn't fix what ICC dumps you into, which is the mess on Georgia Road. Oopsy. Hurry up & wait.
