I like baseball. But, don't you wish the Washington Nationals had a better marketing team when they desiged the name and logo.

I squiggly 'w'....a name like 'the nationals'.

Was there much controversy in DC around the time when they developed the team logos and name?

Why not something that sounds tough and strong...'DC' in the name...and a significantly better team name?

Thoughts? Or like it just as it is?

I personally love the logos and the name. Okay, maybe not love, but I like them.

What they really need is a better team :P I think they were supposed to be pretty promising when Strasburg came to town but then he broke his shoulder or elbow or something and he's out for the season. And we're getting some slugger whose name escapes me at the moment, but he's supposed to be good.

A lot of people wanted the team name to be the Washington Senators, a throw back to the team in the late 1800s. (Of course, they were also called the Nationals at one point too.)

I'm fine with the team name and marketing. What they need is to become a playoff contender, which is still years away.

The Curly W is marketable. I see tons of people in DC with a Nats cap on. They may not be fans, but the hat is very stylish.

Personally, I like the name. It sounds sort of majestic to me, plus I like how Nats sounds like gnats--lots of pun potential there.

I see a lot of people wearing the curly W, so I guess it's a popular logo. I like that it's simple and easy to recognize, but if some other logo came into use that'd be ok by me too. If they wanted to come up with a new logo I wouldn't mind seeing the 4 presidents incorporated somehow--the race of the presidents is my favorite thing about the Nats.

Now all we need is some decent players.

They have a foundation: Desmond, Zimmerman, Ramos, Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, et al. They just need to spend money.

I think the bigger problem than the name is the atrocious ownership. The Lerners are proving to be worse than Snyder or Angelos ever could be.

Sport team ownership should be based on merit, not on how much money you offer.
