I want to have a party in DC this summer and need a venue that can comfortably accommodate 200-300 people.I looked into National Harbor, but then my friends all said that was too far. Some of the other places like Marvin are too expensive.

Does anyone know of any venues in the city I've been sleeping on? I know the lobby of the Mandarin Hotel is nice so I'm looking for something similar.

what are you looking to spend? do you need catering? is it for a private event or for a party (which would include security and clean up cost).

More of a private event. Something very controlled for about 300 people or so.

I don't think the concern about National Harbor is that its too far for them only that they worry about guests on the fence not wanting to venture out.

I wonder if the Washington Convention Center would allow you to hold a party? Are you looking to go with a mature audience here or is this a young group? If its a younger group you could look to a bar for hosting.

Convention Center is a good pick. Old Ebbits is also decent. Check some of the hotels downtown or some of the spots in Adams Morgan.
