We live in Columbia, MD and plan to see an opera this Thursday night at Kennedy Center. It runs from 7:30 pm to about 11pm according to the show schedule, and I'm wondering if there is a parking garage close to the center for that period.

Normally I just park my car at Wheaton station (close to my work), and meet my wife at Foggy Bottom (she's Marc-ing from B'more), and get back on metro. But this time it might be a bit too late? And we are also spending like $9-10 bucks for the metro ride as well. Kennedy center has its performance parking for $22 FYI.

BTW, I plan to arrive before 7pm if possible. Thanks.

You can just park on the street for free somewhere in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood near the Kennedy Center. Most parking restrictions end in the evening. Just read the signs.

Also, if I were you I wouldn't try to get there early (before 7) because the later you arrive the lower the risk of bad traffic.

You might want to call them to make sure, but the watergate next door offers $12 evening and weekend parking (though I don't know what time it kicks in).

I was told the same by some GW kids, but can you point out a few blocks/streets that I could possibly find those spots and yet close enough for walking? It might not be a good idea for me to drive around to wrong neighborhood (in terms of distance or parking spots availability) during that bad traffic hours. Thanks a lot.

I can't point to any specific streets. I'm just saying street parking in the general Foggy Bottom area is fine. The side streets won't be clogged with traffic.

I wouldn't look right next to the Kennedy Center. I'd look north and east of Virginia Avenue and then walk five to ten minutes to the Center.
