Good post. Even though they're getting back paid, that doesn't mean they have money now. I mean, some of them have kids, younger, and live paycheck to paycheck.

They'll get their pay. This is really a national security issue. When gov workers don't have money, they might sell gov secret to foreign interest that will pay for it. That's why clearance concentrate on applicants money issue first, among other factors, before they check the other stuff.
I hope someone actually mentioned this to the congress, or I hope they're already aware of it. After five weeks of C-SPAN, "For American People" are ringing in my head.
And if I may, I think the Shutdown has a serious implication for government workers. They're human after all. Doubt is a dangerous thing, especially when it comes to leadership and trust in their own government.

Unless it gets filibustered in the Senate, it will pass. The Senate is just putting the bill on hold to see if they can increase pressure on the House to pass a bill acceptable to the Senate.
