Location-wise… you will be fine anywhere, really. Don’t let some of the posters who hype up the segregation issue here deter you from choosing a neighborhood that is a best fit for your budget, your lifestyle (urban vs suburban), what kind of amenities do you seek in your neighborhood.

Refer to my last paragraph above to narrow down your options. There are tons of places where AA professionals hang out after work and go out on weekends, some might be AA-dominated but certainly mixed with other demographics as well.
This.

Check out the areas around Minnesota Ave., S.E. and Alaska Ave. N.W.

Yeah, I would add that areas in the N.E. part of DC away from downtown has a large concentration of blacks. I live on the outskirts ( Fort Lincoln) and there are many professionals blacks on this side of town. Also, neighborhoods off of rhode island ave, south dakota ave, and near the fort totten metro station are growing and mostly african americans. Like one poster stated, I would get a rental first to see if you don't mind commuting into work or prefer to use public transportation. I know people who commute up to 2 hours a day one way.

I guess you could live near howard university or south of it. That's not far from downtown.

They live like any other 30 years old in their own situations do.

I'm pretty sure you have not worked at Fortune 500 or even 1000 company with a post like, "where do 30 year old African Americans live in DC?" That's like a white person or any other race saying, "where do 30 year old _insert race here_ eat/drink/buy in DC?" on Twitter for their marketing campaign. It has no substance, and it doesn't appeal to mass audience, and has absolutely no universal appeal, since you're targeting one racial group. Isn't this like asking, "where do all the white people live?". There are so much implications for this, that it will never work.

And I'm pretty sure, that's the first rule that you SHOULD of learn as marketing and communications major.

Someone did tell you that everything you write online will eventually comeback and bite you in the ass, right?

BTW, No, you don't want to stay in the central location, if you're smart about Business. ... sigh.... And I'm pretty sure you registered your EIN in DC.

Hi! Thank you all for all of your honest opinions. To address the prude Plokivos.... Firstly, moving from Texas and experiencing racism first hand I have every right to want to live around "my people". In an area where I can be accepted and given fair chances... equality for all right? I'm moving to DC specifically because it is known historically to offer "my people" options, choices and opportunity. I've lived in Texas, where I got fired the day Obama won his second term because I'm not the "right fit" or color for that matter, even days after being offered a raise. Don't judge me for my preferences. Unfortunately not being the color of choice and even with a black president, RACISM still exists! It's only those that choose to ignore these types of issues or who have been fortunate to not have experienced them responds in the way you did. Additionally, yes I'd like to stay in an neighborhood that has venues that cater to me: music, food, etc... It sucked living in Texas for the past 4 years not really having a cool place to hangout at that catered to "my people" that wasn't in the ghetto or the hood. Just because I'm black doesn't mean I'm not educated nor does it mean that I want to hang out in the "hood".

The difference between a white person asking for a place where "whites only" live and a black person trying to figure out where other known black professionals live is the history. We have gone through years of torment and abuse, which still exists unfortunately. You can not change history only work towards a better future.

Find a job first. Then live wherever you want. It sounds to me like you would be more comfortable around other professionals. Color doesn't matter to most professionals.
