I know it is under construction and may be for a while yet, just wondering on the progress, safety, etc. What are your thoughts on the area? I'll be moving to DC in April of 2012. Thanks!

It's not bad. The biggest issue is that there's a lot of construction and not much activity after working hours. Safety-wise it's not bad. They've made a lot of progress since I moved nearby a year ago, but there's still work to be done. Then again, you're asking about 2012, so there's still time.

Thank you Juniperbleu. Any suggestions for apartments in the area besides the Jefferson or Axiom?

I haven't really looked at most of them, though I'm planning to go to Artomatic this weekend, so I'll check it out (I know, leaving it to the last weekend). They're all new and seem to get good reviews, so you should be fine. I live just over South Capitol in SW, so you could always look there too. The View and other buildings right by the metro were just renovated, and then there's smaller buildings like 350 G Street.
