Good evening everyone! Please take a moment to sign this petition to save DC Libraries. I know that many of you do not live in DC but are educators and really understand the importance of this very important resource. I know you may be thinking that most material can be found online. Please know that while we may take online access for granted there are some people who depend on libraries for its use and wait hours to do so for only 30 minutes. This is really horrible news. I am not in support of many political and economic choices the district partakes in. This is because the city spends a lot more money on pro sports and other investments, and it does not contribute vastly to the educational part of its city.

Fenty Finds Funds! Looks like the Mayor (or at least somebody who works for him) has been able to transfer $2 million from debt service reserves to Library reserves! No Friday closings, no kiosk closings. Maybe a staff cut or two, but service levels seem to have been saved...
