I’m an old retired (retired in 2014) person, probably won’t need to work, looking to buy a house around Colvillle or Newport, WA, or north of Spokane, WA or in the panhandle area above Coeur D’Alene, ID. A place that, when you look at the aerial views, has tons of trees & privacy. I’m not a people person but don’t have problems with neighbors if they live and let live. I’d also like to be able to do target shooting on my property, so a larger parcel is ok if I can afford it, hopefully there will be available natural backstop.

The AZ heat has been my agony for too long now. I hope to sell my house here in AZ by end of the year (2018) or early 2019, and would probably have to rent a place (one of my dogs is large so that is sometimes an issue in renting) up there & look for my “dream” home in WA or ID. Also would like to move before all the Californians show up, haha. No offense met, I’ve lived in CA before & also Colorado (pretty much ruined now) & Wyoming, NM, Texas, & several places on the east coast. My research has narrowed down my choices to the above paragraph. I can live with the rain & snow (looking forward to it).

Would like to be within 30 minutes of groceries, doctors, maybe a Walmart or a Costco, but still out in the country on 2-10 acres +, not too close to neighbors, plenty of trees, not too close to a major road (have 2 stupid dogs), roads that are pretty much accessible in winter, not in a flood zone but small creeks & ponds ok, well & septic ok but not alternative power, have to have internet access, not interested so much in cable, might get a horse also. Don’t want to be under big power lines.

Not interested in hunting but might try fishing. I’ve had a very stressful life & job & would just like to get my own place, relax, de-stress, have fun with the dogs, try out my drone, and just exhale.

Manufactured home or 2-story is ok, along with some kind of “mother-in-law” or separate dwelling would be ideal, for family & friends to visit. I can do minor repairs & upgrades. I am physically fit for my age, but don’t want a fixer-upper. I’m also a bigfoot fanatic & wouldn’t mind going on some expeditions later or attending conferences or symposiums nearby. Oh, and price range would be around $200,000.

I would appreciate any suggestions or assistance as I don’t know the area that well.

Thanks in advance.

I think your closest Costco in Colville or Newport would be in Spokane. Colville has a Walmart. Don't over look the town of Chewelah.

Your budget may be your hassle if you want acreage.

I'm not really sure what you're asking. If your answer is "can I find most of the stuff listed in my post in NE WA or N ID?", then yes, absolutely you can. Most of your requirements should fit well into plenty of areas around here - too many to list here.

It sounds like you've done some homework, but, like Jane said, I'm not sure that $200K will get you any decent amount of land and a half-decent house. You can certainly find a few acres and a crappy single-wide trailer around here for under $200K, though.

You will see some rain, lots of snow, and - maybe the toughest part for someone from CA - a distinct lack of sunshine in the wintertime. If you can survive dreary winter weather and can drive in snow, you should be fine.

Also would like to move before all the Californians show up, haha.

Way to late for that. The Californication of WA started in the 80's. Lucky for you most of it is west of the mountains, so you'd just have to live with their politics, not the people.

Your budget is likely your biggest hurdle. I doubt you'll find 10 acres with two dwellings for only $200k, especially not only 30 minutes from a Costco, but the forests are thick so you don't really need that much to not see neighbors.
