The sun shot a massive fireball yesterday morning travelling at the speed of 3.1 Million MPH.
The solar flare shock wave reached Earth today a few hours ago. It will be followed by a disturbance in the solar wind that should produce fairly extensive auroral displays for next 24hrs.
It will be visible overhead north of Canada border & visible low on the horizon from Seattle, Des Moines, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, and Halifax. See link for more details.
