In the next month, sea surface temperatures (SST) will peak in Pacific, Gulf, and Atlantic Ocean waters around the USA mainland:
While this is not an issue along the Pacific side of the USA, since the Pacific side of the USA has cold ocean waters ( less than 68 F /19 C), and tropical cyclones die in these cold waters…
it is extremely important in terms of tropical cyclone/typhoon formation and intensity in the Gulf and Atlantic below Boston.
Right now a massive area of 30 – 31 C /86-88 F SST cover most of the Gulf of Mexico and offshore waters off Corpus/Houston/New Orleans/Mobile/Tampa…etc. Beaches off New Orleans, Galveston, and Mobile are reporting 86 F surf temps. There even appears to be islands of 31-32 C /88-90 SST in the Florida Keys, off Cuba, and around Andros Island in the Bahamas. On the Atlantic side, 30 C/86 F SST go up as far as Melbourne, while off Georgia, South Carolina, and southern North Carolina SST are in the 28/ 29 C /81 – 85 F range. Daytona Beach, Tybee Island, Folly Beach (off Charleston) and the resorts around Myrtle Beach are reporting 81 – 83 F surf temps. From the Outer Banks of NC (Cape Hatteras) northward to Newport, Rhode Island, SST are 22 C to 28 C /72 – 79 F. Atlantic City, NJ is reporting 79 F SST. From Boston, Massachusetts northward, SST turn cold and fall to under 70 F/21 C.
The warmest near shore/beach SST I could find is Long Key, Fl (in the southern Florida Keys)…where a SST of 89.1 F /32 C is being reported:

Anyone want to park a house boat in the Florida Keys right now and wait out the hurricane season
