I was thinking of the mountains in western scotland but i'm geussing she/he lives on the coastal plain.
I'm in the southwest highlands on a sea loch, mountains all around. About 20 miles west of Glasgow as the crow flies.

I know about real blizzards. Even Tennessee had some.
Well it dropped the amount of snow that a blizzard would drop, but it wasn't a blizzard because it wasn't windy.

Well, the summers here are like Iceland.

Even if the Gulf-Stream did slow down we still would have a temperate climate and the winters would probably average 1c/2c max. So we could still, even then have mild days.

The azores high is a major factor.

Um, well it is when you compare large cold spells. Like the snow she got didn't last long, it lasted 5 weeks here.

I think she lives like right on the West coast, so when a front comes in it just blows straight in and rises the temperature, e.g from 1c to 7c in a matter of an hour, whereas here the temperature may only rise to 3c as we have mountains to our west.

But you aren't on a mountain, there is a 700m mountain near me and average temperatures are like 1/2c up there in December, its below 0c half the time- I bet they get alot of Ice Days up there.

Wow, cold, haven't been following close lately is that unusual for Buxton? It is 38°F at 6:45 p.m. and that is above normal for NE Wisconsin!

Not really that unusual but not exactly the most common type of weather. Ice days aren't uncommon here though, with a few happening every winter.

The climate change in my region might be irrelevant to you, but it is not to me, and I will continue to report what is going on, with or without your blessing.
But they weren't normal. Here's what your originally said:

That was flat out false and that's what I take most issue with. Here's the data:

12/9
Max: 26 F (17 F below average)
Min: 8 F (10 F below average)
Mean: 17 F (13.5 below average)

^That doesn't look normal to me.

12/10
Max: 42 F (1 F below average)
Min: 8 F (10 F below average
Mean: 25 F (5.5 F below average)

The 11th was 1 F below average, so certainly nothing noteworthy.

The high on the 12th was indeed well above normal and the mean for the day was above normal, but the low was normal. The upcoming forecast looks relatively close to normal.
