Looks real nice to me, but I'm a warm weather fan.

Nice warm to hot summers, basically no real winter…no snow…very few frost…and a lot of sunshine. It reminds of a Florida station like St. Petersburg or Sarasota. I think the 70 F average highs in winter are text-book perfect in Florianópolis. The latitude is perfect as well 27 South. I have said many times, these climates between 20 and maybe 27 N/S get most of the benefits of the true tropics...without alot of the undesirable traits.

A.

Not nearly as sunny as you might think - which applies generally to much of south-eastern Brazil. Didn't even reach 2,000 hours last year, though the average looks to be somewhat higher (checked OGIMET tables).

Hmmm:

I didn’t know that. I knew it was too good to be true – lol. Really a shame, because temp wise, this would be a perfect place in terms of a nice warm climate with a modest and mild winter season. Temp wise this is the type of climate I really go for.

Still, 2000 sun hrs annuallseems really low considering the climate and latitude. Any chance another station in the city outskirts has a different number.

Unlikely. I haven't yet found a location in that SE quadrant from about Rio south with more than 2200 hours, and some are considerably lower, like Sao Paulo. Any better results would be of interest.

I've seen conflicting sunshine data, but I thought it was around 2200 hours, but it seems like it's closer to 2000 hours.

Is Porto Alegre around 2200? Wiki is claiming 2400 for Pelotas.

It's still an A for me. Temps are most important and these are close to perfect.

Perfect temperatures, good rainfall pattern, no hurricanes... This place is idyllic! The sun-level doesn't concern me at those temperatures.

A+
