Memphis, TN. Much greater chance of snow and cold in the winter, plus thunderstorms in the summer, just generally more interesting weather. Cairo would bore me to death.
Memphis. Cairo is too dry. I know the Nile creates an appearance of it being wetter than it really is. But it can't make the air smell nice and fresh as it does after rain. Nor can it make thunderstorms. Memphis is more varied and interesting.
Memphis, and having been to Memphis during summer numerous times, I can't believe I'm voting for it over another climate. It's absolutely wretched in the summer. But at least Memphis has some winter.
Memphis wins on all counts imo, higher rainfall, the odd snowfall, more seasonal variation in temperatures and moderately high (as opposed to very high) sunshine hours. It's an A- versus an F for me.
Nothing worse for me than an arid climate. Cairo has very little to offer for those who want some variety in their weather.
Both of them are awful, and Memphis is actually one of my poster boys for wretched summer weather. However, its summer temperatures are about the same as Cairo's and it has more of a cooldown in the cool season, though I wouldn't go so far as to say it has a winter. So Memphis, Tennessee it is for me.
Cairo but only for the temperatures in winter. Memphis is much better in terms of rainfall and greenery, but too chilly in the off season for me.
