Todays updates needed (all based on the NWS sites): McAllen had a low of 51 (11/28), and San Antonio is now officially off the list as they slipped to 38 last night at the International Airport (11/28).

What about Hawaii OP? Guess you're not including it?
Btw, I know that's off topic, but Nice hasn't gone below 40°F/4°C yet - coldest night so far this season was yesterday night with a 5°C/41°F low, but apparently tonight we're gonna dip below that - forecast for tomorrow's low is 3°C.

The largest city, Honolulu, has never seen a low in the 40s before. Therefore, its a bit of a moot point. Besides, I think he is quoting for cities in the lower 48 only.
Key West is the only city that will definitely stay on the list, it's record low is only 41. Miami might dip into the upper 30's, I'd say a 50/50 chance for them.

It's unlikely Miami gets below 40, not 50/50. I'm not saying its impossible, rather highly unlikely.

The last time Miami went below 40, was December 2010. It happened 3 times that month @ Miami International Airport (12/14, 12/15, 12/28), with the lowest temp being 36; it also happened 3 times in January 2010 as well, with the lowest that month going down to 35! There were also several days that month below 45, with the 6th of January hitting 40. So, I would think it would happen on an average of 45%-60% of any given winter.

Well according to wunderground there's a 35% chance Miami gets temps below 40F every year (since 1990)

Since 2000 (source: Data - Florida Climate Center for data from 2000-2007, and National Weather Service Climate for data from 2008-2012), Miami International has had a total of 8 occurances of temps under 40 F. That makes for a 66.67% chance of any given winter of having a temp fall under 40 F in Miami. I realize that this data doesn't go back all the way to 1990, but if for some amazing reason Miami didn't have a single incident of a temp falling below 40 F for the previous 10 years before 2000, that would make a percentage of 36.3%.
If what Weather Underground claims is true, that means from 1990-2000 it would have happened 3.5 times, which would make 11.5 times in a 22 year period, which is still more than 50% of the time during a winter.
The following cities fell below 40F from the list (CF6 numbers):
New Orleans: 39F (12/14)
San Diego (Mont Field) CA: 38F (12/19-20)
SF CA: 36F (12/19)
Phoenix: 39F (12/20)
Palm Springs CA: 38F (12/19)
Yuma AZ: 39F (12/20)
Corpus Christi TX: 35F (12/12)
