Anyone can post photos of portage & main and say it looks nice, or portage avenue; all taken in the summer too. Those other ones you posted are not even of downtown.

Of course there is area nice areas, like there are in every city. Especially when one of the photos you posted is form the most expensive area in the city.

I am more so talking about downtown though and so were you from what you said: "downtown look nice on google street view :P".

Here is an accurate representation of our city: Google liked it so much that they kept the old photo for only that one, go either way down the street from that image and you get the new summer image.

Not really much more good than bad, I can draw on the map of the city and bad is quite a portion. I am mostly comparing to other Canadian cities.

For Canadian standards it might not be the best city but overall i really dont think it deserves such a bad rep as it gets
