Interestingly, I am not sure how sunshine data is taken.. but I remember last July being hot and sunny in London, for 3 weeks straight it was sunny almost every day.. does haze have an affect on recorded sunshine hours? Because the sunshine stats for some of our sunny and hot months seem less than they should be/felt like!
The majority of days are in the 21-26C range.

And wall-to-wall sunshine is very rare in London..

Deal

With

It

Best regards: 2133 sunshine hours last year.

What I meant in saying that the majority of days are between 20C and 32C is that 95%+ of those days are. This is correct, yes?

I know that London is not a very sunny city, this is clearly correct from the sunshine stats which are pretty low, I never made London out to be a sunny city. Wall-to-wall sunshine is not very rare though, in fact it is common to have 5 days in a row with wall to wall sunshine, followed by 5 days of overcast weather

Wall-to-wall sunshine isn't even rare here. We've had a few days like that this year already, and it's only April. I guess it depends on your definition of rare - but if it happens more than a few times a year, I don't consider it rare. I can recall more than a few spells of weather in recent years where we had a few days of virtually uninterrupted sunshine. Sure enough, we're cloudy - no doubt about it, but we do get nice weather, believe it or not. We don't look in awe whenever the sun shines for more than 10 consecutive minutes.

I would laugh if someone went to London in July, it was 23C with sunny spells, and they complained about how cold it is. I'd tell them to get a grip and stop moaning like a sissie pants.

People talking about climates they have never lived in.. bloody bozos on this forum.

2133 hours. Beat that.

No really, London has nice summers. Better than here.

Still, let me boast and say that number again: 2133. Catch up if you can.

It has been sunny every day since Sunday here, and will be for the reliable forecast outlook anyway, so that will be a week of wall to wall sunshine. We also had many spells in March with multiple days in a row being completely sunny..

I'm not trying to make out London to be Mediterranean because in all honesty compared to my ideal climate it kind of sucks. But these sort of stereotypes such as 'wall to wall sunshine is rare' are simply not true. Our weather tends to come in bursts.. a week of one thing and then a week of another.

23C in the sun actually feels very warm to me.. definitely shorts and t-shirt weather without feeling uncomfortable.. and this is coming from someone who would ideally live in a place like Valencia/Rome with 30C highs!

That would probably be around our yearly record

But last summer we had 280ish hours in July, I think..

We would never be able to get a 400 hour month like you

London has a very pleasant summer looking at the averages. Benign for the most part.

400 hours? That's too much. 250 is my ideal.

Not in London I think, but the sunniest month here would equal for 408 sunshine hours in Leeds. And Church Fenton didn't even clock 300 when it was in action.

We're on the way clocking over 2000 hours this year as well, but we'll see.

I think in my perfect climate, 100 hours in the winter months, 100-200 in the spring months, and 250-350 in the summer months would be my ideal...

I hate our winters.. if one stereotype about London is true, it is our gloomy winters!
