Inspired by The East Frisian's Refugio 52, I made Fictional Invercargill.

Fictional Invercargill is basically what Invercargill with three fictional pieces of land, two of which in the Tasman sea:

Fictional Invercargill has warm summers and chilly, snowy winters. Lows below -10 C (14 F) for a few nights in a row isn't uncommon during cold snaps, and below -20 C (-4 F) isn't unheard of. Summers are warm.

How would you rate New Invercargill?

Better than the old version but still too cold. I would like the climate of most New Zealand places, it would be mild in the winter yet warmer in summer

B+, January is a little too warm and it needs more snow. Otherwise,

Definately more than the "real" Invercargill.

Summers pleasantly warm, maybe the heatwaves bit too heavy for my taste, Winter would see frequently more snow than now and a snowcover should last several days.
This would be a B- for me.

A minus. Delicious, but could eitheruse significantly more snowfall or significantly less (so don't have to contend as much with annoying thaw-freeze cycles)

C for me. Winter is too cold and long. This is like a wetter version of climates inland from Invercargill.

While I would like this climate better than the real Invercargill climate, it wouldn't be good for the local economy. Southland's strength, is it's ability to sustain grass growth through most of the year. That's what makes it a NZ pastoral powerhouse.

E+

Better than the old version, good summers, but still too cold and snowy.

Much improved from the current Invercargill, summer would preferably be longer and warmer however.

I agree with most others that this is far better than the real climate. Summers are pleasantly warm with the potential for spells of intense heat. Winters are snowy with the potential for occasional warm spells. It's also much sunnier.

But, overall, this climate is just too cool for my liking. I give it a C- whereas the real Invercargill would get an E.

Much better than the real one, quite good sunshine, but too cold overall. Would score considerably better if rainfall was lowered by at least 200mm, precip. days lowered, and mean temps raised.
