First day of the official winter in Australia.

Mild day with some isolated showers and drizzle in Perth today with a max of 21.4C. Not looking like it'll be very wintry for at least the next week either.

A chilly start to winter, with -3C/27F this morning.

Forecast high is for 15C/60F.

It's hard to guess what sort of winter it's going to be.

I miss that word "chilly" but associated with 20s. Now only 50s are "chilly". lol

Is there any outlets that have a prediction out? News sources or government outlets?

I wish 50s were considered chilly during summer here, but unfortunately that's only average, with some months not even averaging a 50F minimum.

Temperatures and precipitation seem to be mostly in the average to slightly above range, for most of the country. El Nino conditions look likely from the end of August.

I saw a large volanic eruption happened in AU. Ash going 12 miles into the atmosphere is enough to disrupt weather (make it colder) but I haven't checked the important details like how long the eruption was/is or what type of particles went up there.

That ash will be distributed all around the southern hem if there's enough of it.

Let me know if you guys have any articles to read regarding that. If meteorologists are mentioning it.

There's usually a lag time so you might not see results until July into August and thereafter

Not particularly wintry either, temps in the low 20s in Newcastle and Lower Hunter until June 8th, with intermittent showers predicted. June is often the wettest month here, just above March.
Sydney also low 20s til June 8, ensuring that the record breaking consecutive number of days above average (since May 3) continues there for another week.
