Shocking to see winter weather warnings at this time of year. Today it was 90 degrees where I live, and humid. I doubt we will see any snow here until January, even then very little of it.
Check out who's reporting snow right now. Im assuming the Dakota hills are enhancing moisture there. That's a large area of snow for this time of yr there!
Any snowflakes in North Platte Nebraska before midnight would be our earliest on record. Current record: Trace of snow on 9/12/1989
Yesterday saw the earliest snow in Great Falls, MT since 1992 when it fell in Aug. Since 1892 only 6 times has it snowed earlier than Sep 9!

Here's the actual sounding from 12z in Rapid City this morning. Note... 850mb temps were -2.3C. Elevation at Rapid City is 3160. 12z is 6am. It was snowing there at the time.
It was below freezing in all layers except the very surface it was 33F/0.4C

I don't see many before Sept 15th
This morning on the news they were saying only a possibility of snow sticking to grassy areas, less than a quarter inch. By 9 a.m. tomorrow, no more chance of snow. So if there are flakes, that will make 4 months to the day since the last snow, the "freak" Mother's Day snow. Gawd, I need to move back to California
