It feels like Nordic capitals and cities, including southern half of Sweden/Norway/Finland and Denmark are lacking snow in recent years which is shocking. Many years and decades ago it snowed frequently in December, and even November, but no longer. Not even that many below freezing temps!
Yup they've all had well above average temps. Stockholm is still in the 0-6 C (32-43 F) range most of the time, and frequent rain with infrequent snow. Colder places like Oslo are still getting frequent thaws and November like weather in mid December.
Notice the difference between zero F and zero Celsius. Fairbanks is a lot colder in winter.
Coldest night and morning in Oslo so far this winter; @ 08:00: Oslo - Blindern -5.6C and Oslo - Bygdøy -7.6C.
No snow so far in Oslo this winter.
Here in Trondheim we made it down to -10.6C this night, first night below -10C. AlthoughTrondheim on average is slightly warmer than Oslo in winter.
In Bergen (Florida) and Stavanger (VÃ¥land), no air frost at all so far this autumn and winter, although the airports outside both cities recently have recorded a slight air frost.
I think that this is strengthening of Gulf Stream influence, because we have same in Moscow - mid-December, but it's +2 °C, and snow cover is melting (while daily mean for December is −6.1 °C). And previous few Decembers also were very mild, while only twenty-thirty years ago above freezing temperatures in Moscow in winter were rare and extraordinary. So, this might be typical for the whole of Europe in recent years.
A troll of the old days in this forum. A religious fundamentalist and also will soon start posting threads saying how NYC is amazing blah blah, London is always grey and rainy, etc etc...
