The models have been fairly consistent over the past couple of days showing that the first huge arctic outbreak of the season will plague the nation's mid section this week. A deep trough will move through the upper midwest creating blizzard like conditions and temperatures behind it could reach below zero in the Dakotas. Depending on how much moisture is associated with this outbreak, we may even see wintry precip as far south as North Texas/Oklahoma border.
Oh no!!! I don't want cold temps and snow. Looks like it's headed right for me.
Jammie...I would not worry....that GFS run handled the storm in-correctly....the GFS model last few days have not handled the trough coming into the western U.S. well and a few days ago was trying to develop a big storm in the central plains and ride it to the western Great Lakes. This is no longer the idea.... There could be some very light pcpn (rain/snow) but no accum tues-wed period down your way....then turning colder turkey day into the weekend but not record cold. latest long range temp fcst issued Fri morning indicates highs 30-35 next Thursday-Friday with lows 15-20...not too far off from normal values.
Woohoo! ILNC and I are always up for some cold weather! Of course, in Dallas and Houston, things don't usually get very bad!
