Which do you think is more likely

(in this scenario any accumulation on snow on christmas day counts as a white christmas)

Accumulation of snow ANYWHERE in the Miami city proper counts as a white christmas.

Reports of snow in Miami: 1977 (widespread and well documented), 2010 (isolated)

A white Christmas in Miami, FL would be more likely, given how variable the US South is.

Definitely a brown Christmas in Barrow. Miami has never received accumulating snow before, while Barrow I'm sure has received a brown Christmas. I think a better comparison would be a place like Yakutsk.

White Christmas in Miami.

Miami's record low is 30 F / -1 C, and it has snowed there before, on January 19th (1977). The fact that the snowfall wasn't on December 25th was simply by random chance. Barrow, on the other hand, has subfreezing highs on average from September 26th. On December 25th, average highs are all the way down to -4 F / -20 C. Also precipitation is most frequent in Barrow in fall. It's possible, though very unlikely, for Barrow to go above freezing on Christmas, but most years the last above freezing temperatures are in October or November. Typically the snow pack in Barrow is established in September, in warm years it may be early October.

I'll go with white Christmas in Miami. Pretty much impossible to melt Barrow's whole snowpack in late December. Miami can at least get accumulating snow (in theory).

White Xmas in Miami, they've had snow falling twice before. Has Barrow ever had a green/brown winter day?

brown christmas in barrow i'd say, but not due to snow melt, but due to lack of precipitation.
