Whilst Stockholm's winters may fit the Dfb bill, its summers are just too mild. Granted, its record highs are exceptional for its coastal location and especially the latitude, thus giving it that continental touch. But it's still too mild overall. I would say that it's on the cooler end of the oceanic climate. Your thoughts?
Oslo is another contentious one. Cold winters, mild summers, also deemed humid continental I believe.
Summers aren't too mild for Dfb; rather usually for a higher latitude or marine-influenced Dfb climate, of which Stockholm is both. Atlantic Canada has similar summer temperatures with a Dfb climate; ditto with western British Columbia away from the coast.
Like nearly everyone else - humid continental, but oceanic influenced. Even with the 1981-2010 averages, winters there are far too cold to be oceanic - there are very few similarities to the climate here and presumably very few to New Zealand. Going from here to there in a typical January would be a shock.
Continental no question but with oceanic influences like others have said.
