So with this being June and most users here have it as their highest sun angle month... I'd like to ask y'all about the coldest June, December or if you live in the tropics whatever month is is!

The coldest during my life was in 1991 in Norrtälje, but I was an infant then...

So I'll start with my coldest in my memory:

Örebro (June 2012):
Avg high: 18.0C
Avg low: 8.3C
Temp range: 2.6C-23.5C
Rainfall: 108 mm (51 mm normal)
Rain days above 1 mm: 17 days

Here are the day to day numbers:
Spoiler

1/6: 11.8/5.3
2/6: 11.9/2.8
3/6: 11.3/5.3
4/6: 14.4/5.1
5/6: 15.1/2.6
6/6: 17.4/7.5
7/6: 18.3/4.5
8/6: 19.8/4.6
9/6: 17.2/9.7
10/6: 17.3/9.0
11/6: 18.8/9.5
12/6: 17.3/11.7
13/6: 18.2/7.6
14/6: 17.2/10.1
15/6: 17.4/4.9
16/6: 17.9/8.0
17/6: 19.0/11.4
18/6: 17.0/12.4
19/6: 19.0/10.5
20/6: 21.3/9.4
21/6: 23.5/7.9
22/6: 21.7/7.0
23/6: 19.8/10.6
24/6: 18.8/9.5
25/6: 13.3/11.1
26/6: 20.5/11.5
27/6: 19.2/11.3
28/6: 21.7/6.9
29/6: 22.7/6.9
30/6: 22.2/13.2

That month really stood out. It'd still pass as a "proper summer month" in much of Northern Scotland at a more southerly latitude and that's still the worst of the say 50 summer months I have in conscious memory

If we're going to add the actual "angle days" to include the in fact 30 days with the highest sun angle in 2012 it did get slightly less miserable but still bad...
Spoiler
1/7: 20.5/12.1
2/7: 19.5/11.7
3/7: 22.8/8.8
4/7: 23.9/11.3
5/7: 24.2/10.5

Now it got to the "respectable" 19.5/9.4 ... now that could pass for a normal July in Buxton! No wonder the Buxton legend was always miserable!

So what are your cold early summer tales?

The coldest June on record was in 1881.

June 1881 averaged 69.5/52.3. The average low was below average, but not noteworthy, but the average high was over 7 degrees below average--in a summer month! It did have a heat wave that got to 89, and the lowest temp was a not unusual 43, but it has 17 days that failed to get out of the 60s, including 9 that didn't break 65.

Records set in June 1881 include:

-coldest June
-coldest June average high
-tied for the fewest days exceeding 70 in June
-tied for most days below 60 in June
-only June to be be colder than May

Very cold month but your memory doesn't stretch back until 1881 unless you've got superpowers

So the coldest June you've personally experienced is...?

In Phoenix, 2009 has been the coolest June since I've moved here back in 2001.

Back in Rochester, the coolest June in my memory was I think 96 or 97

June 2004 but is very boring and set no records. It wasn't even top 5 for anything. It was only the 6th coldest June and only averaged 3.6 degrees below average.

Not a very memorable month.

June 2015... ****ing 2015. Such a ****ty summer. Means for June, July and August were 11.6, 14.4 and 15.2 respectively...
June's stats: 16.5/6.2 with 252h of sunshine, and the max temp that month was 21.8'C!!!!. Average 2002-2016: 18.0/7.0 with 286h. Average 1961-1990 was 13'C for the mean and 298h. 2014 was pretty bad as well with 17.1/6.4 though at least with 308h and 25.8'C as its max isn't AS bad...

2004 was also disgusting with 16.7/5.6 and 271h and a max temp of only 21.7'C!

2015 was the summer from hell up there. The biggest climate "hangover" ever following that 2014 heat wave in July To put further salt in your wounds I can mention that June saw a few 25C days here that June, a couple of 28C days in July and August averaged 23C highs and pretty much no day fell below 20C highs

I think June 2012 was cold. I had a few single figure highs.
