This pattern has many similarities with that of 2007-08

My overall rain total since yesterday is 0.28". I'm very happy with the exciting storms we had on Sunday. Now above average for the month rain wise.

Well VA is the start of the Mid-Atlantic, and Deep South is about Columbia, SC and points south, namely locations on the Coastal Plain south of Columbia, SC. I don't consider anything on the Piedmont as Deep South. Raleigh is way closer to VA than Columbia, SC.

When I think of the deep south, I think of states like Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. North Carolina is more "mid-south".

Looked like more from the images. More wind & lightning than rain? That Santa Barbara storm looked intense but appears to be only small and isolated.

I'd honestly consider Deep South starting at about Wilmington, NC and south and west of that. So that would include lowland SC, the southern halves of GA/AL/MS, the grand majority of LA and Eastern Texas. It's honestly hard considering a place like Atlanta or Greenville-Spartanburg, SC as Deep South. Too hilly, different vegetation and different climate from places like Savannah, GA. TN or NC to me is "Upper South" while mid-South is places like Birmingham, Atlanta, Northern Mississippi, etc.

I'd like a repeat of 2012. Mild throughout, and only 3 inches of snow.

We'll probably get a near average, back-loaded winter with 1.5 to 2 times our average snowfall and cold shots persisting well into spring. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Actually, all of Mississippi is on the coastal plain of the GOMEX, as is the SE half of Arkansas, and Memphis is too, so I consider, all of MS, the Southeastern half of Arkansas and Memphis to be in the Deep South as well
