Most common, by the relative frequency as recorded in my weather records and available from the metoffice. This is for all year rather than each month, but the answer is the same. Every month basically has different levels of cloud and rain but they dominate all year round.
Overcast or cloudy conditions (75% of the time ~ 1200-1300 sunshine hours per year)
Rain (51" falls over 260 days per year on average)
Cool conditions - mean annual temperature of 7.8°C (46°F)
Least common:
Thunderstorms (thunder heard less than 10 days a year on average)
Heat (most years fail to reach 80°F with 75-77°F being the typical warmest)
Sun (see above)

Generally sunny most of the time with however regular rainy/cloudy spells from Oct to Apr with almost always a couple of heavy rain days around November. Endlessly sunny in summer.
True cold waves are very rare, most years won't see a frost, but a few rainy winter days yield maxes below 10°C.
Heat waves are uncommon as well, summer temps are very stable with 90% of max temps in the 25-30°C range.
Thunderstorms are rare but can be impressive, generally occurring around late summer/early autumn.
Snow falls once every 3/4 years but almost never accumulates.
We don't get much variation in temps year round here, so the four seasons sums it up fairly well.
More distinctive really are the rain patterns which probably define more the variation than the temperatures.
Having said that, summer can see dry stretches whereas it can also rain during winter.
Dec - Jan, chilly, overcast, frequent fog. Infrequent snow. NO SUNSHINE EVER. Gales.
Jun - August, similar except snow. Rare heatwaves.
