Mecca - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amazingly hot with no relief. Even Death Valley is better than this hell hole. Humidity isn't that low either.

This is the first climate I gave an F from too heat, except maybe Death Valley. At least Lake Havasu city has a number of nice months.

And the climate is utterly alien to what I'm used to; and so is the culture.

C- because of humidity combining with heat. Sun on its own would not be a problem.

I don't know about ColdCanadian, but as for me, it's Hell. Pretty much the inverse of those northern climates that get three months of weak-willed summer and spend the rest of the time in the thaw zone or deep into the minus numbers.

That being said, the three months of, um, ''winter'' are actually okay for me. So, Mecca gets a D- rather than F ( my definition of F: no months I can go outside and enjoy it ).

For the record, Cairo is far, far more pleasant than this. From March to November Mecca gets highs on average hotter than Cairo's hottest month.

Anybody have any sun total? Obviously high, but if I remember rightly places in the Middle East aren't as ridiculously high as I might expect. This place averages only about 7F less than Dallol which proved too hot for human habitation - is there any city as big or bigger with an average high in the 100s?

A- the heat is even a bit too much for me here, so it loses points but still in the A range for being a tropical climate

Surprisingly, quite a few. Phoenix, Baghdad, Lahore, Mexicali, and Khartoum are the largest I can think of off the top of my head.

What makes Mecca, um, special, is that it never really cools down, though Khartoum is similar.
