Driving home tonight from town we got a light show like I have never seen. Lightning was going horizontal with 4-6 streaks at a time. It looked like sheet music it lasted over 30 minutes. The tornado warning is over and we haven't heard of any damages in our local area.

Now all you weather gurus please tell me why the lightning was not going vertical please. Tomorrow I plan to re-install my weather program on my tower but I did have to break down and turn the A/C on tonight it was 82º in our house when we got home from swimming. It was a high of 91º here tonight with no breeze and the air was very hot.

That sounds like simple cloud to cloud lightning....Better than vertical....safety wise.

Thanks Kats we are safe just the weirdest thing I have ever witnessed in weather I tell ya. My XH is a weather spotter so we have learned a lot of weather through the years. Times like these wish he was still here to explain it to us.

I figured it wasn't as damaging it was awesome to look at wish I wasn't driving so I could have looked longer. I did get the tail end of it when we got home while sitting on the front porch.

I just walked clear out on the front porch with a flashlight it is 70º and raining now. It is a lot cooler kids proclaimed they were freezing so the A/C went back off. Little whimps I had it on 75º for goodness sake.
