77 as very hot, where are you from, Tuktoyaktuk? 77 is a typical march day where I live. Here it's not hot until 95, and not very hot until 101-102
Below 15°F (-9°C): Frigid
15-49°F (-9 to +9°C): Cold
50-67°F (10-19°C): Cool
68-84°F (20-29°C): Mild
85-98°F (29-37°C): Warm
99-109°F (37-43°C): Hot
109°F (43°C) and above: Sweltering
These can be affected by weather and atmospheric conditions. The numbers shown assume a dew point of 50°F (10°C) or lower, wind speed of 10 mph (16 km/h), and cloud cover of 40%.
Where I live, most winter days are cold and most winter nights are frigid; most summer days are mild (but there are a good deal of warm ones too) and most summer nights are cool (with the odd mild night and a cold night or two).
In my ideal climate, most winter days are mild and most winter nights are borderline mild/cool; most summer days are warm and most summer nights are at the low end of mild.
Cold? Less than 10C.
Cool: 10-17
Neutral: 17-22
Warm: 22-27
Hot: 27+
Note that "hot" does not mean "uncomfortable". It just means it is warm enough for me to go for a swim and for it to be hell inside of any car. Uncomfortably hot would be over 33°C.

You're just used to deadly hot weather, hotter than your stomach, I suppose.
You'd probably find 35 "very cold", which is a typical October morning here, and I find that just "cool".
77 onwards it STARTS getting "very hot" for me, actual "very hot" is more like 82. It's all relative, I suppose

Actually, I do find 35 very cold, that is what our coldest morning of the year bottoms out at, we are in Hardiness Zone 10A

No offense, by why do you always have to compare everything to Phoenix? I'm from Miami where 77 F is a pretty typical daytime high in winter, and I still consider it at least very warm directly in the sun. Especially if there's no breeze.
