Hey there everyone!

I have been watching this forum for a little while now and haven't been able to find any information near what I'm looking for so I'm hoping you can help me out. I am considering a move down to Palm Beach County for a job (and to be near family in South Florida). What I'm wondering though is about the cost of living. I am 25, single, and I have no debt (yay), and I've been living on my own with measly salaries for several years now so I'm good at living beneath my means. But I am in Tennessee where the cost of living is much lower than Florida in general, not to mention WPB specifically. This new job would pay me $30,000 (same as what I make up here in TN)...is that even conceivable down south?? I have no issues living in a cheaper city surrounding WPB and commuting and am open to suggestions as to which ones. But if there are people on this forum that can speak to the cost of living for a single person with no debt I would LOVE to hear from you.

Thanks!

At 30k before taxes you will need a roommate to rent or live in a run down area. Or rent a room. Palm Beach county is expensive. Its hard to live on anything less than $15 an hour, and rentals are expensive for the most part. You can find cheaper apartments, but you may or may not like the community or the management.

Thanks for the reply! I would definitely be seeking a roommate situation. Do you have any suggestions on neighborhoods to look at? Or neighborhoods to avoid as well?

With a roommate situation in a cheap place it's still gonna be tough, but I think it can be done. Prepare to like scrape by tho. Who knows, maybe another (better) job opportunity may come up while you're here.
