I am looking into relocating to Florida. My spouse would be working in the Palm Beach Gardens area, so looking for a commute of less than 30 minutes. Not sure in what area I would be working. Safety of area and good school is first priority - middle school with high school quickly approaching.
Looking at houses in 250K range, could go a bit higher if needed.
Any suggestions as to what areas would ne safest with good school??

Jupiter or Wellington have good schools. The 250K range may limit your options a bit. I currently live in a great gated community in Wellington, near the Wellington mall. Houses built 1996-1999 with 3 bedroom/ 2 bath and 1600-1900 sq/ft are going for 250 - 300K. There are also HOA fees to consider. I'm sure you'll get a lot more replies, just ignore the negative ones and you'll get some helpful info.

250 maybe a townhouse, condo or did you check further north from jupiter? Tequesta is cheaper.

West Lake Worth/Wellington if you want to be in a house. The Lake Charleston area of Lake Worth will give you relatively newer (late 90's early 2000's) homes zoned for higher rated schools.

No...250's - 260's for single family homes right in the heart of Wellington. This is the area that I was talking about. We've been renting here for almost a year and we absolutely love it - everyone who lives here loves it. The location is ideal - very, very convenient, yet still private (and quiet) once you enter the gates. These houses are not big, but the layouts are great/open with nice-sized BRs and baths. HOA fees are approx $180/ month with nice amenities included (basic cable, gated, 3 pools, playgrounds, walking trails, tennis, basketball, clubhouse, pool tables, library, gym, free yoga classes, zumba classes, free holiday parties, etc, etc) The only reason we're moving is because our lease is up and we've decided we want a bigger place with a (private) pool and nothing that fits our criteria is available here:

1581 Carriage Brooke Dr, Wellington, FL 33414 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

1527 Carriage Brooke Dr, Wellington, FL 33414 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

1706 Carriage Brooke Dr, Wellington, FL 33414 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

1875 Barnstable Rd, Wellington, FL 33414 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

10674 Oak Bend Way, Wellington, FL 33414 - Home For Sale and Real Estate Listing - realtor.com®

Working in Palm Beach Gardens with $250k budget. Loxahatchee is such an obvious choice it's not even funny. It's incredibly safe, great schools, you would get a 3/2 house easily and a 1.25 acre lot to boot. I have several family members and even more friends who live there. There is a reason so many cops and firefighters are in the Acreage. It's cheap, super family oriented, and safe. To the original poster, if you aren't familiar with the area, it's the large area with all acre properties just south of Northlake to the west of the Turnpike.

It's a lot closer than Wellington, too.

If your spouse is working in Gardens and you're working with a 250k budget, look to Palm City, in Martin County, or Hobe Sound, also in Martin County.

Tequesta may be an option as well.

I agree with the other posters regarding Loxahatchee and the northern areas of Tequesta/Jupiter. I actually love the Tequesta Jupiter area myself, but I work in the Ft. Lauderdale area, so any further north for me isn't an option. The further south you get, the pricier homes are in my opinion. I am purchasing in Lake Clarke Shores (southern part of WPB). Safe area outside of a gated community, and proximity to the beach and 95/turnpike were my drivers. I have heard the schools are good in this area too, but my children are all grown up. Good luck!
