My husband and I are moving to Jupiter for work reasons starting next month. While we have not narrowed it down to an exact neighborhood, we are looking into Egret Landing and Abacoa neighborhood area. We have a child who will be entering kindergarten next year. Looking at schools, can someone explain to my why (and how!!) Jupiter elementary school has such a dismal rating?? I mean, its an elementary school. Is Lighthouse elementary the better choice? At this point we will be there in the area for at least the next five years, and possibly longer. Realistically, should we just prepare for private school? Additionally, we aren't locked into this exact area, but cannot move further north than there, and want to keep a bit of distance from Ft. Lauderdale. Thank you for any insight!

Egret has Jerry Thomas as an elementary......Abacoa can be fine for elementary/middle but high school is not Jupiter but the less desirable Dwyer.

Jupiter Elementary gets killed with low scores due to the large migrant population that attends that school. The surrounding area is a lot of duplexes/triplexes with migrants living 4-5 to a room.

Our kids did the Lighthouse/Beacon route and it was fantastic. I'd say Limestone Creek is the other that is highly desirable.
Jerry Thomas and Jupiter are both fine. True there is higher migrant populations. But they are by no means bad schools nor environments where any child can thrive.

I'd put Jupiter Middle and Independence on par. My kids attend IMS. It's fine. Most of Abacoa is IMS.

I truly feel the Jupiter High vs Dwyer High conversation is changing. I'm comfortable with either. (Between my ex-wife and I, our kids can essentially choose which school they'd rather go to. And of course, choice academy comes into play as well...)

Some of my best friends live in Egret Landing specifically for their kids schooling.

Obviously it depends on who your direct neighbors are but for the most part there is a very strong sense of community there.
