Based on the numerous other threads you have on this topic, you should probably stay in PA and your son should not move to FL, but help you in PA.

Aside from someone from up North wanting to move to Florida and IMMEDIATELY get matching medicaid benefits.....I'm bumping this thread to inform others that the "problem" here is the demands.

Retired couple with small income needing 2-3 bedroom HOUSE? Why?

And all you have to do is google Jupiter on a real estate site to know you can't afford it - not even a condo. There are a couple in the $250K range in Tequesta.

Century Village condos for seniors are in : West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, and a LOT LESS than 300K.

In fact when this poster was posting and even now there are some 2/BR under100K.

why don't you try to contact the city of jupiter and look for affordable housing options for seniors. jupiter has gotten quite costly. my late parents lived there 20 years ago and it was sort of like a town that was rural and had modest folk, although the crowd from boca raton and lauderdale started to move up there due to being sick of congestion. now, it is unaffordable to most. the buffs on the ocean are in the 400k prices. the da vosta group also sells homes that are not directly on the ocean that are slightly cheaper. even renting may be an option. there is a new building by mangrove bay that looks pleasant. remember that it is so utterly hot out between may and october and that there is little shade in the vicinity. get into some sort of hobby or volunteer work or you may find yourself very isolated. search out your own niche of folks. don't get in a rut. i spent around 10 months down there caring for my elderly folks and as i am a native manhattanite, i nearly lost my mind! just be aware of what you need to do to make it work, as the folk are not intrigued by much and aren't as energetic and outgoing as we northerners are.

foreclosures and short sales may be the answer, but make sure that they are inspected by a licensed professional.
