County tourism makes record comeback

"Discover The Palm Beaches, the county’s official tourism marketing agency, recently held a summit at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan in which it showed the following for 2022: Total visitation — 9.1 million total visitors, up 31% from 2021. Total spending — $6.7 billion, up 34% from 2021. Total economic impact — $9.7 billion, up 33% from 2021. Revenue results — $1.4 billion in room night revenue generated with $77.8 million in bed tax collections, up 44% from the peak in 2019.

Visitor rebound in fiscal year ’21-’22 was strongest among domestic travelers, with visitation from Canada, the UK, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia continuing to grow. In fiscal year ’21-’22, domestic visitation was up 27%, out-of-state visitation grew 33% while visits from Florida grew 19%. According to MMGY Global’s Portrait of American Travelers Winter Edition 2022, 45% of American travelers are interested in visiting the Palm Beaches over the next two years.

The area plans to welcome 19 new hotels with 2,533 rooms opening by 2025.

Florida topped the nation in international tourists based on market share, drawing 44.6%. New York, which was long the top destination of international travelers, attracted about 22% of the market."

There is a town in NJ named Manalapan as well. Probably a lot of people from NJ going to that resort as they look around Florida for a house to buy.

I find it strange visitors coming from Latin America. They have tropical resorts much closer.
