If you do not mind a slightly more "rural" neighborhood, and do not just want to live as close as possible to the beach (which will also make your homeowners insurance more), make sure you also search in the "western communities": the Acreage, Loxahatchee, Jupiter Farms, etc. They'd be an easy commute for you, and you can get a lot more house and property for your money. You might also want to look north of Jupiter in Martin County. You can get even more for your money in St. Lucie county, but most folks wouldn't want to commute that far, although to northern Palm Beach County, the commute from St. Lucie County doesn't have near the traffic volume as if you live to the south instead.

job losses have taken a turn for the worst there and in Miami/Ft Lauderdale as well, so it appears that the entire southern atlantic coast of Florida is enduring record unemployment.....that is a serious cause for concern. I will take my trip down there next week, but unless we really feel confident about our chances there, I may just stay here in Houston.
You're welcome, I think you will like Palm Beach Gardens, but it's also an expensive area. I don't work in Florida, so I can't help you there, sorry. If anything, hopefully it will at least be a nice mini vacation lol.
