What do I love about living in the Northeast? More specifically, my town of Fairfield, CT? Here you go:

-Tight-knit, organic community feel
-Progressive vibe
-Norman Rockwell quality - you should see our block on Halloween!
-Proximity to NYC, as well as Boston, Providence, Vermont
-It's beautiful
-Four seasons

What don't I like?
-Very expensive housing
-Distance from our families
-Although I love having four seasons, January & February can be brutal...and depressing

Tell me, what do you like about South Florida?
I like:

The Weather

The Beaches

The Communities (new, pool, spa, fitness center are all standard)

Street Landscaping (palm trees, cut grass, always green, clean)

The Ocean (warm, blue, swim-able, sport fishing, boating)

The Cost of Living (cheap compared to the NE &most of the West Coast)

Ample Free Parking (paying for parking is RARE)

The People - except for the slow senior drivers lol (I've made a lot of good friends since moving here)

Beautiful beaches.

Not being depressed by a long, cold, gloomy winter.

Talking to others who feel blessed to live here.
I have to agree with this. But what I miss most since we moved is my house! I REALLY wanted to take it with us when we moved.

As stated, the weather is fantastic.

Three cities (MIA,FTL, WPB) that while none of them are as large as the major cities in the NE all have a distinct character.

Nice beaches

Beautiful people galore

Good access to major sports teams that, with the exception of the Dolphins, are all pretty cheap to go see.

diversity

good access to authentic latin food.

Lots of boating and sportfishing to be had.

On a more personal level, I really enjoy the sense that I live in an area that is "becoming". I feel sometimes like I'm getting in on the ground floor watching these communities grow into real cities and try to figure out their identity.

The weather
The beaches
Pet-friendly (no leash law in Palm Beach County, alot of no-kill pet shelters, alot of people who care about animals)
No state income tax
The flocks of parrots (who were once pets-in-cages) and who are now all over the place and who can be heard in the trees overhead as you load your groceries into the car in the grocery store parking lot
The distinctive wildlife (manatees, alligators, pelicans, armadillos, etc.)
Updated, inexpensive rentals that are pet-friendly (no breed or weight restrictions)
The summer, when it is hot as Hades and everyone has left!

What is hot as Hades? I have never heard this term used before.

It is a euphemism for "hot as hell." In Greek mythology, Hades was the underworld.
