Hi everyone! I have been lurking and reading alot on this forum and I want to start off by saying thank you in advance to anyone who reads and responds to my post.

We are a family with 2 young children (under 6 yrs old). WE have been looking to leave Dade County. Our search brought us to Palm Beach county, since the type of house we'd like doesn't exist in our price range in Broward! We'd like a home with alot of square footage, like a 4/2 with over 1800 sqft and a garage, and a nice sized lot to boot. Yeah, I know, thats a rough one anywhere, but I figure why settle, I hate moving, and I figure my next home should be my last!

We took a drive to see some properties out in Loxahatchee, since I saw some large homes on an acre or so ranging from 130k and up. My questions are:
Where is the city center? Library, park community center etc...? We homeschool, so we need activities for the kids to participate in (karate class, storytime at the library etc....? We couldnt seem to find like the strip, you know, where all the stores and stuff was?

Would there be a better option? JUpiter Farms , Royal Palm Beach? Or somewhere else?

Is that ground in Loxahatchee fertile? We'd like to have a small veggie garden, but the soil looked like white rock?

Basically I want my family to have the benefits of culture and activities we get in Miami, but the large, affordable homes we saw in Loxahatchee!

I'd appreciate any help, we have to be out of our current home by July 1st!

Hi,

I think I may be able to answer some of your questions. Loxahatchee is going to definitely be very different than Miami-Dade County. Unless you really like the country like isolated feeling, I think somewhere like Royal Palm Beach or Jupiter farms might be a better option. Both are suburbs of West Palm Beach and have the things you are looking for. Both have a Library branch from the Palm Beach Public library, you may have some more choices like choosing Winn-Dixie or Publix as well as many bulk buying clubs. If you still want that feeling that you get in Dade County, i would be in a more urbanized suburb like Royal Palm or Jupiter Farms, because then you have access to Southern Blvd, which can get you into West Palm Beach quickly. You will also be closer to the turnpike and State Road 7 which can get you to Broward and Miami-Dade quickly. I think you will find your self doing a lot more rat race commuting if you live in Loxahatchee. Just my thoughts! Good luck!

thanks for taking the time to respond.

Those areas are probably more expensive right? Can you point me in the right direction with the zip codes of those areas you think I can find some properties like those I described?

I think its 33412? Any other areas you suggest?

Thanks again

Look in 33411 and 33413. I think that 33412 might be a bit isolated. You must know that many areas in Loxahatchee (locally known here as the Acreage) are all dirt roads and many dead ends making it quite a task to get in and out of the area. So unless you like commuting i wouldnt recommend Acreage area. I did find some homes in your price range in Royal Palm .

Thanks for the link and zips! Do you know of any other cities or burbs in WPB that have those large acre + lots and are under the 200's? I dont mind the dirt roads and well/septic thing, I just would like to be somewhat in the area of the activities and stores.

Yeah, thats what i assumed that you wanted, and thats why i dont think Loxahatchee is good because it is not really that accessible to many activities and stores and I think the traffic out there is horrendous! Look in Jupiter Farms and the Royal Palm Beach. Focus on 33411.
