Me and the wife are thinking of moving from NY down to Central Boca. Nice jewish community there, heard good things about Del Prado schools, and the cost of living in the Northeast is killing us.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying a SFH vs. a TH (besides having neighbors sharing walls in a Townhouse).

Do 1 Family Homes hold their value better than Townhomes?

Any other thoughts?

thanks.

Traditionally SFH's have better resale, but I think as more and more people are becoming to busy for the chores of home maintenance a TH is a good way to go. Since almost all TH's are either two or three stories with two infants the stairs involved might be a pain.
Most neighborhoods in Boca you'll be paying HOA's either way.

If your looking for better resale (long term) and more family oriented, go with SFH.
Short term, little to no maintenance - TH. Check HOA and for any recent increases. Can double or triple overnight in a unstable community. Not too many unstable in Boca but it could happen.
