We are relocating to the WPB area in about six weeks and I am panicking! Our oldest will be starting kindergarten so we need to buy or rent a home in a good school district. We absolutely cannot do a HOA - I used to live in a home with one (10 years ago) so I know what that's all about, my husband couldn't deal with the restrictions and on top of that the privilege of paying for the restrictions. Nor could I. We are coming from Alaska so a bit of yard and some independence are important to us... We have a 50 pound Weimaraner so that may be an issue for renting. We really like the Flamingo Park area, south Olive, and a few homes in Jupiter Farms. Are there any other areas that might fit our bill? There is a rental on Pilgrim and a home for sale on Rutland and one on Sunset... Does anyone know about those areas? There is a realtor who is sending us a lot of listings but they are mostly high-HOA fee subdivisions and I am starting to... panic! Oh yeah, and we'd like to be close to the water and our price range is up to $400,000. Thanks!

I live about three streets away from Sunset. It's nice street, good area. What block is it? (600, 700, 800?)

I also know of the area near Pilgrim. If your address will have a 3, 2, or 1 in front of it, that's good. Otherwise, West of Dixie I would not really recommend.

Also, you may want to expand your search to North Palm Beach Heights in Jupiter. No HOA there either.

What is your price range/requirements?

i would NEVER buy now when relocating especially from another state you need to find your preferences here IMO....

I dont know about the schools but my son's old house rental was available a couple weeks ago and the one next door too...

619 o st with a yard and a detached garage with wd the yard is fine for the dog or kid but both is challenging you need to be good with cleanup granview heights a close walk downtown

HOWARD DOG PARK four blocks

the house had loose windows with some dryrot so air conditioning not the most efficient the house next door looks like new windows

alot of rentals there with signs on the lawns so im not sure if the people really list all of them but he got his from a realtor who had several selections.

The Sunset house is in the 700 block and there is a house on Claremore in the 800 block that also looks nice... Ideally we would be able to find a place to rent with an option to buy- just to make sure we like the neighborhood too.

Our price range is up to $400,000. Someone from the area told me that the house prices are probably going to drop for another 9 or so months, another argument for renting.

How do you find out about rentals? IS the best way to just drive around and look for signs?

Thanks for all the help!!

OK so I looked on Craigs list and realtor dot com there's also things like Rent 1 Buy1 where they have a list. It's pretty sparse. You probably need to find out about schools I know nothing. And if you'd like the historic area I dont know if there are alot of kids. If you're only there a year it really wont matter.

If you think you like the cute historic houses you need to move because there arent alot online.

If you're desperate I can go look at one for you LOLOL....but once cuz it's not close...renting from photos is tricky...craigs list is tricky too alot of scams. ......that one for 1500 is really nice the yard is pretty big (for the area)

RENT DONT BUY!

Oh, man, YOU ARE AWESOME! I really like the Grandview Heights one, and the Sunset one looks nice too. I'll have to do a little research on schools. Is Grandview Heights part of Flamingo Park or is it a whole separate neighborhood?
